Watts School of Nursing – The Best There Is

Watts School of Nursing has been synonymous to quality education for over a century now. From its beginning as an offshoot of Watts Hospital and now as part of the Duke University Health System, the school has earned the reputation as the premier training ground of aspiring nurses. Few schools in the United States can claim to the title as the best nursing school in the country. Watts School of Nursing is one the few. What makes Watts stand out from the numerous nursing schools in the United States is its focus on producing well-rounded individuals who can excel in the field of nursing without losing track of the school’s avowed mission to heal the sick.

In keeping with its mission to produce on the best nurses in North Carolina and the whole United States, Watts School of Nursing limits the number of students in its classes. This policy is aimed at ensuring that teachers are able to adequately impart to their students knowledge that will serve them well when they enter the healthcare sector as registered nurses in the future. As part of its continuous relationship with its students, Watts School of Nursing boasts of a highly efficient support system for graduates and students through the cooperation of the faculty and its alumni.

Since 2004, Watts School of Nursing has collaborated with Mount Olive College in providing the proper academic and clinical education to its aspiring nurses. Under the partnership, students can earn their nursing degree in only two and a half years of enrollment at Watts. However, students must complete first the prerequisite subjects at Mount Olive College before proceeding to Watts for a four-semester program where they will study nursing courses. The education that Watts provides to students is based on the requirements demanded by organizations such as the American Nurses Association and National League of Nursing.

Watts School of Nursing guides its students from the beginning until they achieve success in the medical and healthcare field. Hence, graduates of the school earn eligibility to take the national licensing exam for nurses known as the National Council Licensure Examination. Luckily for graduates of this premier nursing school, the institution has the reputation of being the owner of the highest passing rate in the country. In fact, over the past three years, the school has an average passing rate of over 94 percent.

Watts School of Nursing understands that studying to become a nurse could easily drain the students’ energy and enthusiasm without healthy diversions. Hence, student organizations are allowed to flourish with various in-campus activities that aim to promote camaraderie among students. Healthy exchanges of opinions between and among students and faculty are also encouraged to maintain an interactive and open system of communication. All these programs and activities are aimed towards the achievement of school’s ultimate mission to serve patients and heal the sick with the help of well-trained nurses. There is no doubt that this mission can be attained through the efforts of the Watts School of Nursing.
