The Top Nursing Schools in the US

The top nursing schools in America have different things to offer to those aspiring to take care of people and work as nurses. However, it seems quite difficult to choose one, what with the hundred of nursing schools in the country, and sometimes with states that hold more than 30 of these nursing schools.

It is easy to tell the difference between these top nursing schools, but choosing is just as hard as not even knowing their differences. Most of these differences lie entirely on the courses offered, but sometimes their difference also lies in the method of teaching. Most of them offer the traditional way of pursuing the course and the profession, while there are others that will offer a more modern way of getting there. It is important to choose among the top nursing schools, as they will shape you towards being a better nurse with a better educational foundation.

Tied on the first spot on the top nursing schools are the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and the University of Washington in Seattle.

With campuses in Europe and Asia, Johns Hopkins University is one of the most successful research facilities in the world, and is also one of the oldest nursing schools in the United States built just three years after the very first nursing school opened in 1873. To prove its brilliance and excellence, Hopkins has helped shape some of the most important people in the field of science, medicine, and politics and even in sport. For more than 30 years, Johns Hopkins University has stayed at the top of the list of the top nursing schools in the whole of America.

The University of Pennsylvania has tied with 2 other top nursing schools in ranking this 2011. But what makes it stand out? Is it the fact that it is an Ivy League university? Is it the fact that it is one of the oldest universities in the United States? Is it the fact that it is one of the original Colonial Colleges? Or is it because it is a member of the AAU (Association of American Universities)? All of these things just add to what the University of Pennsylvania really provides: strong nursing foundations combined with extensive research facilities, programs and courses.

The University of Washington in Seattle is also one of the top nursing schools in America. It is a public university, but this did not prevent it from becoming one of the top schools. It is the largest school in the Northwestern part of the United States, with more than 500 buildings and more than $5 billion in yearly expenses. Aside from being ranked first in nursing and healthcare, its School of Medicine is also ranked ninth in research.

The top nursing schools in the US have their own unique characteristics, but the education they provide is never less than high quality. It can be said that it is hard to keep this level of commitment, but these schools have done it year after year after year.
