Georgia’s September 2012 unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) was released at 9.0% (down 0.2%). Georgia’s rate is once again below the January 2012 unemployment rate of 9.2%. Additionally, the rate is now 0.8% below what it was 12 months ago in September 2011 when it was up to 9.8%.

The Unemployment Rate in Georgia at 9.2% in August 2012

Georgia’s August 2012 unemployment rate was unchanged at 9.2%. This is the second straight month at 9.2% and ties January for the highest rate rate for the state in 2012. There were an estimated 439,700 workers unemployed in the state for the month. This is up by roughly 1,500 over the prior month. Also, in August there were about 2,400 fewer people employed in Georgia, and just under 1,000 less in the total civilian workforce. These (comparatively) small changes compared to July led to the flat unemployment rate in August.
